Summary

PlanDrop helps you identify places from screen content you choose to capture. Captured screen frames and text clues are processed on your iPhone and are not uploaded to a PlanDrop service.

Screen capture and on-device analysis

PlanDrop asks you to choose Share Entire Screen through Apple’s system screen-sharing picker. When capture is active, iOS displays its system recording indicator.

PlanDrop temporarily retains recent screen frames and text clues on your iPhone while a capture is active. Apple’s on-device system language model performs place analysis. PlanDrop does not send captured frames or extracted OCR text to a PlanDrop cloud service.

You can use Stop & Delete Capture in PlanDrop or its Live Activity at any time. Temporary evidence is also cleared after you save a place.

Saved places

If you save a Drop, PlanDrop stores the saved place name, address or locality when available, category, map coordinates when available, verification status and saved date locally on your iPhone. You can delete individual saved Drops in the app.

PlanDrop does not provide an account, cloud backup or advertising service.

Privacy-safe usage analytics

PlanDrop uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand whether key journeys work, such as starting capture, completing on-device analysis, saving a place, reaching the monthly free limit, and completing or restoring a purchase. Analytics may collect a pseudonymous app-instance identifier, app and device information, approximate region derived from a masked IP address, product interactions and App Store purchase events.

PlanDrop does not send captured frames, screen recordings, OCR text, venue names, saved-place details, Reel URLs, map/search queries or free-form error text to Firebase Analytics. PlanDrop does not set a user ID, use the advertising identifier or identifier for vendor, enable ad personalization, or use Analytics data to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

You can turn off usage analytics at any time in Privacy & Support. Turning it off stops future Analytics collection on that device and resets locally stored Analytics data. Google processes Analytics data to provide the measurement service; see Google’s privacy and security information.

Purchases and free allowance

PlanDrop allows up to 20 successful new place saves per calendar month without charge. The current month and save count are stored locally on your iPhone. A non-consumable lifetime purchase can unlock unlimited saves. Apple processes purchases and restores through StoreKit; PlanDrop receives only the verified entitlement state needed to unlock the feature.

Maps and external search

PlanDrop may send a detected place name and locality to Apple Maps to check a possible match. It does not send captured screen frames or OCR text to Apple Maps.

If you choose Search Google, PlanDrop opens Google with a place query. Google’s own terms and privacy policy apply after you leave PlanDrop.
